Francis Collins is the leading physician/geneticist in the United States. He was the director of the Human Genonome Project that a few years ago sucessfully mapped the DNA sequence structure which has led to breakthroughs in research of diseases such as cystic fibrosis, Huntington's disease, adult acute luekemia and even diabetes.This week President Obama named him to head the National Institute of Health, the leading post in health research and ethics.
Francis Collins is also a Christian, a follower of Jesus. He has been heavily influenced by CS Lewis. In 2006, Collins wrote, "The Language of God: A Scientists Presents Evidence for Belief."
My prayer for Collins
"Thank you God that in our age of scientific skepticism, you have raised up a man that fears and honors you. Protect him, give him wisdom, clarity, integrity and humility. And may you make him an example for other Christians to follow, a person dedicated to excellence in their field and committed to being a worshipper of God."
