I had the honor of heading up to Yosemite this week and hiking up to half dome with 10 of my friends and fellow Pastors from Calvary Church.
It was an incredible experience that I will never do again! The cables leading up to the summit of half-dome rank up there as one of the scariest things I have ever done.
On the cables, I had some time to contemplate my mortality (!) as two small steel cables and pieces of wood loosely bolted together every 10 feet kept me from falling thousands of feet to my sure death.
Later, when we had safely made it back down to Yosemite valley some 13 hours after we had first
begun our trek, I read this great quote from author Donald Miller I thought I would share with you....
"I have a temporary body in a temporary world. I spend too little time caring for my eternal soul."
-Donald Miller
My death defying trek to Half Dome this week and the above quote have got me thinking today...
How can I spend more time carrying and investing in eternal things?
How can my life be more centered around a God honoring eternal perspective?
And how can I make sure I never try to climb Half Dome again?...Hahahaha.

hey- great time with you guys last night! its rare to find a fam that we all connect well with. I hiked HD when I was 16, it was awesome, a bit scary, just dont look down on that cable ladder;) but definately good reminder of your mortality!
