I realize I am a little late to the party, but wow, I have to recommend the band "Gungor" to you if you haven't already been listening to them for the past couple of years. Their lyrics, musical talent and full length albums are amazing! And they are coming to play a live show in Santa Ana next month!
Here a live recording of their song "Beautiful Things":
Here is a instrumental version of the "Doxology" from that same recording session:
Free Preaching Conference Coming March 15th
To My Fellow Pastors: My buddy (and boss!) at Calvary, Eric Wakeling, recently told me about a FREE preaching conference coming up presented by Preaching Rocket. Preaching Rocket is a new on-line community which is officially launches on March 1st. The idea is to give a forum on Preaching, for Pastors, where they can learn and grow from one another. I am really excited about the site and about the conference which is being help on March 15th from 10am to 1pm, Pacific Time and features, Andy Stanley, Louie Giglio, Perry Noble and others.
Here is the link to sign up for the Free Conference...
Also, speaking of Conferences, here are a couple of other upcoming ministry conferences I am planning or hoping to go to:
Orphan Summit - Christian Alliance for Orphans (May 3-4 at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, Ca)
Preaching in the Wind - Biblical Preaching in a Skeptical Culture (April 27th at Biola University)

Worship thru Music Response to John 15
I have the honor of preaching at Calvary in a couple of weeks on John 15:1-11.
This beautiful and challenging passage ranks high on my favorite chapters of the Bible list (along with Psalm 103, Psalm 139, Isaiah 53, John 10, Romans 8, 1 Corinthians 15, all of Colossians and 1 Peter 5!).
In John 15, Jesus is transitioning from the upper room and the last supper with the disciples, to the garden of Gethsemane where he will spend the evening in prayer before being arrested, tried and crucified on a tree. Jesus calls his disciples (and us) in John 15, to a life of friendship and abiding in Him as the true vine and source of life. I love, love, love this passage!
In my prep for the upcoming message, I came across a song that I believe really captures the heart of Jesus' words in John 15. It is called "Full Attention" by Jeremy Riddle. Check it out here and here
and read the lyrics to the song below and if you go to Calvary, look for Victor and the crew to mix this song into our worship set over the next couple of weeks.
"Full Attention" by Jeremy Riddle
May Your voice be louder
May Your voice be clearer
Than all the others
May Your face be dearer
May Your words be sweeter
Than all the others in my life
Please keep my eyes fixed on You
Please wound my heart so deep in You
Keep me abiding, keep me abiding
Keep me abiding that I may bear fruit
May Your your presence be truer
May Your presence be nearer
Than all the others
And may Your light shine brighter
And may Your love move deeper
Than all the other my God
Than all the others in my life
Please keep my eyes fixed on You
Please wound my heart so deep in You
Keep me abiding, keep me abiding
Keep me abiding that I may bear fruit
Please keep my eyes fixed on You
Please wound my heart so deep in You
Keep me asking, keep me near
Keep me abding that I may be a fruit
Keep me close to You
Oh, right next to Your heart
Close to You
